Friday Favourites

I have an ongoing love affair with Japanese Wood Cuts. I am entranced by the elegance of the line, the wonderful interplay between positive and negative space, the amazing light, the beautiful subtle tones and the incredible skill utilised in creating these images.

Kawase Hasui

Hiroshi Yoshida

Fumio Kitaoka

Shoda Koho

Kato Teruhide

Hiroto Norikane

These are ‘modern’ Wood Cut artists and as a result their compositions and choice of subject is more contemporary. They are all artists who worked in the early 20th century.

Have a wonderful weekend.
