Ok, so I am still in the clouds after that amazing Space Dive, and, I know the detractors are on the nitpicking warpath…….”technically space only starts at……” and “this is only a big publicity stunt……” and more.
The fact remains he still skydived/jumped/flew/floated/ swirled/rocketed down from almost 40 kilometers at a speed of 1 335kmph, can’t ignore that.
All the space diving and floating and stuff put me in mind of one of my favorite David Bowie songs (and there are heaps of them!)
The Original music video for the David Bowie song Space Oddity from Bowie’s promotional film, ‘Love You Till Tuesday’, originally released in 1969 and re-released on dvd.
The haunting lyrics reminded me so much of the work of Jeremy Geddes, in particular his Astronaut series. Lonely, floating and abandoned.
This is major Tom to ground control, I’m stepping through the door
And I’m floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today
Here am I sitting in a tin can far above the world
Planet Earth is blue and there’s nothing I can do
