The musing was supposed to happen in the early morning but was foiled by the local power supply not supplying, so it has become an afternoon “let’s mull it over”.
Now, I love a bit of adventure providing it involves me being as close to sea level as possible, or having a great big secure barrier between me and the gaping maw of some chasm.
Hiking in Brenta. A spectacular passage of the via ferrata Bocchette Centrali, on the Dolomiti del Brenta, Italy. Along the lane there is a wire rope where the hikers can fasten onto. I suppose that is for those who suffer from a wee bit of vertigo, what about those of us who would be prone, with our eyes tightly shut not so quietly sobbing.
No, not for me!
And for those of us who will never, never even entertain the thought of shuffling along precarious cliff face for the sheer thrill of it, I have linked to a beautiful youtube video where you can do it from the comfort of your desk chair.
And the best of all – Extreme Camping, seriously you have to be joking, what on earth for?
Hanging precariously in tents off a 4,000ft vertical cliff face. These daredevils (I could think of a more appropriate word!) scale cliffs and pitch their tents thousands of feet up just for the fun of it.
The photograph was taken by Gordon Wiltsie
Gordon it seems, seems to enjoy the extreme side of life and has some amazing photographs to make you feel rather happy you are sitting at a desk.
Now that Monday has turned into a horror fest of the kind of extreme activities that only the silly and unimaginative would pursue, I think I should look to some more sedate activities for Tuesday.
